Damn!

Thanks for all of the kind comments about the Swallowtail! Unfortunately we are having technical difficulties, due to the unfroggable nature of Kidsilk Haze, Robby sleeping on my lap while knitting, and slippery Addi Turbo's. I'm thinking about ordering some Inox circulars, because I read they are not quite as slippery and have a nice sharp tip, that's suited for lace. Have no fear, I'm not giving up, it's a pride thing now, I'm on my third attempt, let's hope this one works out.

That is actually why I gave up the idea of doing my swallowtail in Kidsilk. I'm petrified that I might have to frog!

Bummer!

Well that just stinks! Glad you're not giving up though; your Grandma is going to love it so much.

ARG! Definitely push through, but maybe only knit it when you have time to concentrate, and don't focus on the time frame you set for yourself. She'll love it just as much if you send it to her after she visits!

have you tried to use wood needles with that yarn? i find that they work wel with laceweights, and some of them have nice points in the smaller sizes . . .

Ouch! I hope this is only a temporary impasse.
I just bought some Addi Lace needles and although they are less slippery and with sharper tips than the regular Addi Turbos, they still don't give the same traction as wood. I am using them right now because you can't have all the sizes in all the cable lengths in all the different kinds (well, not yet!) and I do find that the Addi cables are better than the other brands I've tried.

That illustrates why I have not touched any lace yet.

Addis are definitely slippery. I know how it feels to lose stitches off a sock needle. You must be a nervous wreck worrying if lace stitches are going to slip. Yikes.

Good luck - let the knitting force be with you!

i also read freezing the kidsilk haze makes it a little easier to knit with. gosh, it is like gossamer from the photos. i know you're going to do it! i love what you wrote about your grandmother - it'll be a gift from the heart.

I am suddenly busy and don't have time to find the link but I have been hearing rave reviews of the new Addi lace needles. They are pointy and GOLD and they are addis. How could you go wrong?
